Krakovec

Krakovec, up to 1920 Cerveny Zámek ( German Roth Castle, also Rotschloß ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic, more than twelve kilometers southwest of Rakovníka in Rakonitzer hill country and belongs to Okres Rakovník.

Geography

The village is located at the confluence of the creek Krakovský in the Šípský creek. Center of Krakovec forms of the castle hill with the ruins of the castle Krakovec.

Neighboring towns are Krakov and Novy Dvur in the northeast, and Zhoř Rousínov in the east, Jenkovický Mlýn in the south, Milicov the southwest, Sipy in the west and Všesulov in the northwest.

History

According to legend, Krakovec to have been together with Krakov the seat of the legendary forefather Krok.
