Krallice

Krallice is an experimental extreme metal band from New York City, which was founded in 2008.

History

Mick Barr and Colin Marston worked first time in 2006 for a split EP of their respective bands and Behold ... The Arctopus Orthrelm together, both from the environment of progressive metal and mathcore. With Lev Weinstein they founded in 2008 Krallice. The band name is, according to Barr, a fantasy word. In July of the same year they released the Canadian independent label Profound Lore her self-titled debut album, which was praised by the music press high.

Nick McMaster, who had already contributed additional vocals for Krallice, finally came as the bassist for the band. For the second album Dimensional Bleedthrough that followed in November 2009, he also designed the cover artwork. The third album Diotima of 2011, whose songs mostly taken during the recordings for Dimensional Bleedthrough is considered as the best release of the band.

In July 2011, also the EP Orphan of Sickness was placed on Bandcamp for free download, the new album so far Years Past Matter was published in August 2012, self-published and available for download.

Style

Krallice play fast, technical extreme metal with blast beats, repetitive riffs and complex structures, which often creates a hypnotic atmosphere. Many songs are longer than 10 minutes. There you will find influences from Black Metal, minimal music and progressive rock.

The songs are for the most part purely instrumental. The song consists of shouting; the lyrics are virtually incomprehensible. Mick Barr sees no concept behind the lyrics, they usually incur in the process of stream of consciousness. The band omitted a scene typical ideological appearance as Satanists with corpse paint and sees the Black Metal as a purely musical expression.
