The cancer creek near the castle stables Randenburg in Alzenauer upper forest

Mouth of the creek in the cancer Kahl

The Krebsbach is a left tributary of the Kahl in the Spessart district of Aschaffenburg in Lower Franconia. It rises as Vocke brook in a valley on the Hahnenkamm at Moembris - Hemsbach and flows mainly north- west.

Course

The Krebsbach soon reached the narrow gorge between cancer tower head and Hahnenkamm. Here are to the right of the stream on two hills, the former location of the edge of the castle and the Forgotten Castle. In the lower valley of the Krebsbach is used as a water supply for some pond. In Alzenau, across the parking lot to the castle Alzenau, the cancer creek flows into the Kahl.

Flood

On the night of July 29, 1896 a bad storm lived directly above Alzenau. Especially difficult the area at the foot of the Hahnenkamm was haunted. Within a very short time the cancer stream turned into a raging river and destroyed wheat and potato fields.

In Alzenauer Sachsenhausen district of the tidal wave reached a height of up to two meters. It penetrated into most of the houses and stables. The cattle often could not be brought to safety in time. Many cows were up to their bellies in the water. When an estate several pigs were flushed to the front door. In many cases, people could save themselves only with great difficulty. From a house even a lot of furniture have been washed out. The oncoming, immense masses of water led to huge amounts of debris and mud. This encamped in the road to Kälberau meters high from. The tidal wave was so powerful that the Kahl they could not believe, and in a flash stepped over their banks. So the flood of Kahl shot right through Alzenau, between church and castle and through a bit further down again until the actual river bed.

Also on 10 August of 1981 there was a heavy flood of cancer creek, which caused damage in Alzenau.
