Kremenchuk Reservoir

The Krementschuker Reservoir (Ukrainian: Кременчуцьке водосховище ) is one of the six major Ukrainian reservoirs on the Dnieper River.

At the lake borders the Central Ukrainian oblasts Cherkassy, ​​Kirovograd and Poltava.

The Krementschuker reservoir covers 2252 km ² and contains about 13.5 km ³ of water. Its length is 149 km with a maximum width of 28 km. At the deepest point, the water has a depth of 28 m. It has a high importance for fishing. In addition, located on the shore of the lake in the area of ​​Rajons Hlobyne large fish farms.

The dam of the lake is about 15 km west of the city of Kremenchug near the city Switlowodsk. Here there is a large hydroelectric plant. On the crown of the dam runs a public road. Was built the dam between 1959 and 1961.
