Krishna Poonia

Krishna Poonia ( born May 5, 1982 in Agroha, Haryana ) is an Indian discus thrower.

At the Track Asia Cup 2005 in Incheon, she won bronze. In 2006, she was fifth at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne and gained a bronze medal at the Asian Games in Doha. Another bronze medal followed at the Asian Championships in 2007 in Amman.

At the World Athletics Championships 2007 in Osaka she divorced as of the qualification as at the Olympic Games 2008 in Beijing and at the 2009 World Championships in Berlin. At season's end in 2009, she won her third consecutive bronze medal at the Asian Championships in Guangzhou.

In 2010 she won at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi, the first athletics gold medal for the host country in these competitions since 1952. At the Asian Games in Guangzhou, she won again bronze.

At the Olympic Games 2012 in London, she was seventh.

Krishna Poonia is coached by her husband Virender Singh Poonia. In 2010 she was awarded the Arjuna Award.
