Kryptos (Band)

Kryptos is an Indian heavy metal band from Bangalore. The band is available with AFM Records and has released three studio albums.

History

The band was founded in late 1998 by guitarist Nolan Lewis and bassist and singer Ganesh Krishnaswamy. Initially, the band played covers of Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin before the musicians began to write her own songs. After several line-up changes crystallized with the second guitarist Ashkay Patel and drummer Ryan Colaco a stable cast out.

In 2004 the debut album Spiral Ascent via the band's own record label, Clandestine Musick was published. The album cover was designed by Dark Tranquillity guitarist Niklas Sundin -. The band played numerous concerts in their home country and was taken in April 2006 by Old School Metal Records. This Kryptos became the first Indian metal band that were taken by an international record company.

Ganesh Krishnaswamy bassist left the band temporarily and was replaced by Jayawant Tewari. Nolan Lewis then took over the vocals. The end of 2006 the band recorded their second studio album The Ark of Gemini, which was however not published until 2008. A year later, the band performed at the Rock in India Festival on as the opening act for Iron Maiden. In 2010, played first Indian band Kryptos as a European tour.

In December 2011, some band members founded with fellow musicians from Bangalore the record label Iron Fist Records. In February 2012, the third studio album The Coils of Apollyon appeared in India. Half a year later, the band of AFM Records was signed, which released the album in September 2012 worldwide.
