Kubitzer Bodden

The Kubitzer Bodden is a lagoon or a lagoon of the Baltic Sea in the southwestern part of the island of Rügen. In the north of the bay is limited by the Rügensche Peninsula Lieschow. In the east and south the shore of the island of Rügen in Dreschvitz, Samtens Rambin are the natural limits. The boundary with the west upstream Stralsund is the line between the hook Bessiner Bessin in the south and the headland of Lieschow peninsula in the north. On Bessiner hook is a beacon.

Its greatest depth, the Kubitzer Bodden in the fairway before the village Rugenhof with about 3.5 m. In the central and western part of the bay, the water depths vary between 2 and 3 m. The shore surrounding areas have depths of about 1.5 m. The navigation channel, the so-called "Black Power " runs in the middle of the bay in west-east direction.

Bodden was named after lying on Rügen Bodden on Ummanzer district Great Kubitz. The lagoon is part of the National Park Boddenlandscape and he belongs to the West Rügen Bodden.

To the east of the bay is the island Liebitz.
