Kulpahar (Hindi: कुलपहाड़, Kulpahāṛ ) is a town in the district of Mahoba in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh with about 20,000 inhabitants. It lies in the Bundelkhand region. Until February 11, 1995 Kulpahar was a town in the district of Hamirpur before was founded on this day of the new district Mahoba. Kulpahar has many historic buildings, including the temple ruins of the Chandela dynasty.

Location

History

Kulpahar was the capital of an eponymous princely state in British India. In 1700, founded by Senapati, the city was conquered in 1804 by the British and became a princely state in Bundelkhand region of Central Indian Agency.
