Kundeling Monastery

Kündeling ( Tib. kun bde gling; Chinese Gongdelin功 德林;. Engl Kundeling Monastery ) is a monastery of the Gelugpa school ( Yellow Hat ) of Tibetan Buddhism in Lhasa. It is located in the homonymous street district Gündêling the city Chengguan District, the downtown area of Lhasa in the Tibet Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China.

The monastery is the home of Jedrung Rinpoche (Tib. rin po che rJe drung ), one of the four major Kuutuktus Qamdos in the Qing Dynasty and is one of four regency Temple ( gling- bzhi ) Lhasa. The head of the monastery is as Kündeling Tatshag Jedrung Rinpoche ( rje drung kun gling rin po rta tshag or che kun gling rje drung ho rta tshag thog thu ) are known, which had existed since the founding of the monastery thirteen.

The monastery was founded in 1794 by the Qing for their protégé Lobsang Yeshe Tenpai Gonpo ( 1760-1810 ) on the occasion of the celebration of their victory over the Gurkhas. The 13th Kundeling Tatsak Rinpoche

Lobsang Yeshe Jampel Gyatsho (* 1959 in Kolkata ) is the current Kundeling Tatsak Rinpoche. Its recognition is controversial, since it is not officially recognized by the Dalai Lama.
