Kuraray

Kuraray KK (. Jap.株式会社 クラレ, kabushiki - gaisha curare; engl Kuraray Co., Ltd.)., Is a global Japanese specialty chemicals company headquartered in Chiyoda, Tokyo Prefecture.

Founded in 1926, Kuraray now has around 6,500 employees worldwide and annual sales of around 3.2 billion euros. The corporate headquarters is located in OTE Center Building in Tokyo's Otemachi. Kuraray is one of the largest suppliers of polymers and synthetic microfibers and is increasingly focusing on the development and application of innovative high-performance materials.

History

Kuraray was founded in 1926 as Kurashiki Kurashiki Kenshoku Co. in Japanese. The factory was designed for the production of rayon viscose. In the 1950s, Kuraray was the first company which managed the marketing of Vinalonfasern and textiles. Then were gradually cotton fabrics in Japanese school uniforms replaced by synthetic fibers. Kuraray was the first Japanese company that has a manufacturing plant in China opened. Around 1990, followed factories in Belgium and Singapore. Only a few years ago acquired Kuraray the current divisions in Germany and the USA.

Location Germany

Already in 1965, was the company's first branch of Kuraray Co. in Hamburg. The office moved three years later to Dusseldorf. In 1991, one Kuraray Europe GmbH. Founded in 2001, Kuraray Specialities Europe GmbH in Frankfurt am Main in 2006 merged with Kuraray Europe GmbH. The foundation of Kuraray Europe GmbH, based in Hattersheim, form the traditional production companies " Mowiol " (polyvinyl alcohol) and " Mowital " (polyvinyl butyral) in the Höchst Industrial Park (formerly Höchst, Hoechst AG). They were taken over by Clariant 2001, 2005, the acquisition of TROSIFOL film business of HT Troplast followed in Troisdorf. Due mostly to the TROSIFOL films for laminated safety glass in vehicles and buildings - such as in the Reichstag dome in Berlin - the company has become known in the market.

Products

Kuraray Kuraray Europe together with one of Europe's leading manufacturers of polyvinyl alcohol and polyvinyl butyral. These products are used in many areas of daily life: for the production of paper, textiles, packaging, printing inks, varnishes, adhesives, water-soluble films and ceramics. Under the brand name " TROSIFOL " Kuraray produces films that are used for laminated safety glass in vehicles, buildings, and solar systems. The product range also includes chemical specialties, activated carbon filters, thermoplastic elastomers, synthetic fibers, synthetic leather and dental products.
