Kurdistan Revolutionary Party

The Kurdish Revolutionary Party, rarely, Revolutionary Party of Kurdistan ( Kurdistan Hizbi Shorishgeri, Arabic al - Hizb al - Thawri al - Kurdistani, الحزب الثوري الكردستاني ), was a Kurdish block party in Iraq.

Development

It was founded by Abd al- Sattar Sharif, who had until 1970 a member of the Politburo of the Ahmed / Talabani wing of the Democratic Party of Kurdistan, the KDP had but left because of their rejection of the autonomy agreement with Baghdad.

As- Sattar in 1976 was the first Secretary General of the party and held until the 1980s various ministerial posts in the Iraqi central government in Baghdad. The Kurdish Revolutionary Party as other Kurdish factions and the Iraqi Communist Party, included in a coalition with the Baath Party, the National Progressive Front, but never reached the mass base of DPK.

The party won most recently at the 1996 elections, two parliamentary seats and looked for as- Sattars escape in 2000 from its 14th National Congress. After the fall of the Baathist regime in 2003 the surviving KRP- politician from the U.S. occupying forces and their Kurdish allies were arrested and the party thus effectively shattered.
