KV Racing Technology

KV Racing Technology is a team of the IndyCar Series.

History

The team in 2003 as PK Racing by businessman Kevin Kalkhoven and former Formula 1 manager Craig Pollock from the remnants of the dissolved PacWest Racing was founded. The team competed in the Champ Car series, whose founding father and owner Kalkhoven was among others. For the 2004 season the CART champion from 1996, Jimmy Vasser and businessman Dan Pettit were added as new partners, while Pollock left the team. This team was now called PKV Racing. The only race victory in the Champ Car team history remained Cristiano da Matta in Portland in 2005 reserved.

After the merger of Champ Car with the Indy Cars Pettit left the team, thus the name KV Racing Technology was formed. Oriol Servia follows the team in the new series, with Will Power joined another former Champ Car driver for the team. For the farewell race of the Champ Cars in Long Beach and Jimmy Vasser drove a race again, which won power. At the end of the first IndyCar season the team was the most successful one of the former Champ Car teams and Oriol Servia was the bestplatzierteste changers out of the Champ Car series.

In the following years 2009 and 2010 changed the driver crew. Mario Moraes was a unique fighter over most of the 2009 season, a third place in Chicagoland was his best result. Takuma Sato and EJ Viso met for the 2010 season added as an additional driver, with Sato was able to achieve a podium finish. In both years, Paul Tracy was active for individual races in the team.

The 2011 season for KV concluded a partnership with Lotus, who wanted to prepare as an engine supplier for the 2012 season. Initially only sponsor in 2009 built Lotus 's commitment in 2010 to a technical partnership. Sato and Viso remained on board while Tony Kanaan took as prominent recommitment in a third car. Canaan was also the put the highlights in this season, he could enter three podiums, he closed Appreciation from fifth.

With the introduction of the new IndyCars and the entry of other motor manufacturers, it went into the 2012 season. K. moved here to Chevrolet as an engine partner, making Takuma Sato was forced to leave the team. The Japanese is in a partnership with Honda and riders should continue for a Honda team. KV, however, managed another ex-Formula 1 driver to oblige. Rubens Barrichello, a very good friend of Canaan, drove this season for the team. Besides the two Brazilians also Viso remained on board. But again it was Canaan who could retract the only driver of the team podium.

For the 2013 season Viso and Barrichello left the team. Viso initially wanted to start his own team, but then switched to Andretti Autosport. Barrichello moved to the Stock Car Brasil .. KV Racing Technology reduced his team to two vehicles and ordered the Simona de Silvestro, who had driven the last three years for HVM Racing .. Canaan won the Indianapolis 500 2013, whereby KV Racing Technology for the first times the winner of this race presented. De Silvestro scored in Houston with a second place their first podium placement.
