KvaÄany, Liptovský Mikuláš District
Kvačany (Hungarian Kvacsan - to 1888 Kvacsán ) is a town in central Slovakia near the town of Liptovsky Mikulas.
It is located in the Chočské Hills in the northern parts of Liptau.
Already in 1256, the area is referred to in a document as a " desolate ", in 1319 the place is first mentioned in writing as Kovachan. The St. Catherine's Church dates from the beginning of the 14th century, in 1456 for the first time in writing and the 1960 is my finished site Dlhá Luka ( German Long - meadow, Hungarian Hosszúrét ) mentioned. Since the 16th century a parish school is demonstrated in Kvačany, the population employed over the centuries, especially with sheep farming, agriculture and forestry.
