Kvetoslavov

Kvetoslavov ( until 1948 slovak " usor "; oysters German, Hungarian Úszor ) is a municipality in southwestern Slovakia, with 954 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2011). Administratively it is in Okres Dunajská Streda, which in turn belongs to the district Trnavský kraj.

Geography

The municipality is situated on the upper part of the Danube river island Large Rye Island, which belongs to the Slovak Danube lowland. Around the community are fertile soils ( black earth ). Kvetoslavov is five kilometers from Šamorín and about 25 kilometers from the capital Bratislava.

History

The municipal area was discovered a Roman barbarian settlement. The place appears for the first time in 1230 in a document as Uzor and probably refers to a family that settled before the time of Christianity. In the Middle Ages this name was also used as a title of nobility. The place was pulled down by the Hussites affected in the 15th century, as well as in the 17th and early 18th century by the insurgents against the Habsburgs and the Turks. In the 18th century the town was settled by German immigrants, but over time merged with the Magyar majority. Major owners of the place were the families Farkas ( the 16th century), Forgách ( 17th century), Bittoo, Nassvady ( 18th century) and Pongrácz in the 19th century.

Until 1918, the village in the county Pressburg the Kingdom of Hungary belonged and came afterwards to the newly formed Czechoslovakia. 1938-45 he was on the basis of the First Vienna Award again in Hungary. In 1948, the village name was changed from national political reasons Kvetoslavov.

Population

According to Census 2001 (822 inhabitants), the majority of the population between Slovaks ( 46.6 %) and Hungarians (46%) is split, with a small proportion of Czechs ( 4.1%). Denominational dominated the Roman Catholic Church with 60.6 %, followed by atheists (17.3%) and Protestant (6.6%); 10.2 % of the population did not respond.
