Kyrgyzstani presidential election, 2011

The presidential elections in Kyrgyzstan in 2011 took place on 30 October of the year. These were the first regular elections since the overthrow of President Kurmanbek Bakiyev in April 2010 and the pogroms in southern Kyrgyzstan in June of the same year. With the election of the interim government of Kyrgyzstan should be replaced.

Candidates

Almazbek Atambayev was elected on the first ballot with 63.2 % of votes.

International observers - including the OSCE - praised the election as free and fair. The OSCE criticized the same but the "significant irregularities" in the vote count. The defeated main opposition candidate, Madumarow and Taschijew, the victory Atambajews refused to recognize why.
