Kyrylo Rozumovskyi

Kirill Razumovsky Grigoryevich (Russian Кирилл Григорьевич Разумовский / Kirill Razumovsky Grigorjewitsch, scientific transliteration Kirill Grigor'evič Razumovskij; Ukrainian Кирило Григорович Розумовський, scientific transliteration Kyrylo Hryhorovyč Rozumovs'kyj; * 18 Märzjul / March 29 1728greg in Lemeschi at. . Kozelets, Ukraine, .. † 3 Januarjul / January 15 1803greg in Baturyn, Ukraine) was a Russian Count, commander, the last Hetman of the Zaporozhian Cossacks and Russian General-Field Marshal. His brother was Alexei Grigoryevich Razumovsky.

Razumovsky studied at the Albertina in Königsberg. In 1740 he was elevated to the rank of count. In 1746 he became president of the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences; this office he held until 1798.

From 1750-1764 he was the last Ataman of a Ukrainian Cossack state, whose capital was Baturyn. The Hetmanate was subordinate to the Russian Empire and was dissolved in 1764 by Catherine the Great. In 1764 he was appointed Field Marshal.

Rosumowskyj had built a large palace in Baturyn, in which he spent his last decades from the 1770s. Rosumowskyj was co-founder of Moscow University. His son Andrei was a noted diplomat, patron of music and art collector.
