La Esmeralda is a village in southeastern Uruguay.

Geography

It is located on the territory of the Department of Rocha in the sectors 4 and 5 of the Cuchilla de la Angostura in front on the Atlantic coast. To the west lie inland a few kilometers away Castillos and Barrio Torres, while near the northern edge of the village of Laguna Negra spreads. Up the coast to the northeast of the coastal town of Punta del Diablo is located, while in the south-southwest of Aguas Dulces is the nearest seaside resort.

On the western edge of La Esmeraldas the Ruta 9 performs along.

Population

La Esmeralda was female in the census in 2011, 57 inhabitants, of which 35 are male and 22.
