La Grande-Résie

La Grande- Résie is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

La Grande- Résie situated at an altitude of 200 m above sea level, 7 km north of Pesmes and about 37 km west-northwest of the city of Besançon ( straight line ). The village extends to the south of the department, east of Saôneebene in the valley of the brook Résie between the vast forests Gros Bois and Bois lady.

The area of ​​4.76 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the gently undulating countryside between the valleys of Ognon in the south and Saône in the north. From northeast to southwest, the area is crossed by the Talniederung the Résie that provides drainage for Ognon. The Talniederung is flanked on both sides by a plateau, which is on average 215 m. It is composed of Tertiary sediments, and is partly used for agriculture, partly it is covered with forest. To the south, the municipality's area extends into the Gros Bois. With 222 m find the highest mountains of La Grande- Résie is achieved. In the north, the community share in the Grove of the Bois lady.

History

In the Middle Ages La Grande- Résie belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The existence of the local noble family Résie is attested since the 12th century. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Today La Grande- Résie is a member of the comprehensive 18 villages municipal association Communauté de communes du Val de Pesmes.

Attractions

The chapel of La Grande- Résie was built in 1896 in Neo-Renaissance style. North of the Résie is the castle, which was built in the 18th and 19th century in the Gothic Revival style. The main building is flanked by two towers and has since the 19th century a chapel.

Population

With 90 inhabitants ( 1999), La Grande- Résie one of the smallest municipalities in the department of Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1896 166 persons were still counted ), only small fluctuations were recorded since the early 1970s.

Economy and infrastructure

La Grande- Résie was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. Outside of the primary sector, there are few jobs in the village. Some employed persons are also commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village has good transport links. It lies on the main road D475 which leads from Dole via Pesmes to Gray. Further road links exist with Aubigney, Vadans and Chevigney.
