La Plata Peak

The La Plata Peak is 4,369 m one of the 54 " fourteeners " in the Rocky Mountains in the area of ​​the U.S. state of Colorado. It is located about 32 kilometers southwest of Leadville in the mountain range Sawatch Range in Chaffee County. The La Plata Peak is entirely in the San Isabel National Forest and in the Collegiate Peaks Wilderness.

The name is derived from la plata, the Spanish word for silver. His name was given to the mountain because of the many silver deposits in the area.
