Labor Day (Film)

Labor Day is an American film drama directed by Jason Reitman from 2013 with Kate Winslet and Josh Brolin in the lead roles. It is a film adaptation of the novel The smell of summer by Joyce Maynard.

Action

1987: Adele is depressed and taking care of a single mother to her 13 - year-old son Henry. Take the injured Frank with in her car, which soon turns out to be an escaped convict who is already wanted by the police. Through flashbacks, the audience learns that Frank is a Vietnam War veteran, who married after his return, his pregnant girlfriend Mandy. When the child was a year old, Mandy Frank revealed during a dispute that the child is not his. Then Frank Mandy pushed down a flight of stairs, so she came to death. At the same time drowned the baby, and Frank was sent to prison for manslaughter.

Adele and Frank fall in love and planning to move to Canada with Henry. Meanwhile, a friendship between Henry and Eleanor, who persuades him developed, the two wanted to leave him. As Eleanor of Frank's past experiences, she shows him and collects the reward. Before the three can break, Frank is arrested.

Years later became of Henry, a successful banker. Frank calling from the jail with him, and he and his single mother still visit him.

The film premiered on September 7, 2013 at the Toronto International Film Festival. The theatrical release in the U.S. is supposed to be on 31 January 2014. In Germany the film is expected to hit theaters on April 24, 2014.

Reception

The film Labor Day was seen as rather mixed. The film a positive rating on the website Rotten Tomatoes peaked at 53 percent of the reviewers.
