Lac Region
Lac (Lake) is a region of Chad, corresponding to the former prefecture of the same name. Its capital is Bol. The region has about 359,000 inhabitants.
Geography
Lac has an area of 22,320 km ², of which Lake Chad is a substantial part. According to the latter, it is named for the French word for "sea". The region is located in the west of the country, on the border with Cameroon, Nigeria and Niger.

Population
The main ethnic group in the Lac region are the Kanembu, which account for about two-thirds of the population. On islands in Lake Chad, the Buduma live.
