The present building of the railway station in Lahti was completed in 1935. It is based on a design by architect Thure Hellstrom. In 2006, the station was rebuilt. By completion of the high speed line Lahti - Kerava, which was put into operation on 1 September 2006, the travel time to Helsinki shortened by about 20 minutes 48 to 60 minutes (depending on type of train ).
