Lahuachaca

Lahuachaca is a small town in the department of La Paz in the highlands of South American Andes State of Bolivia.

Lahuachaca is the central place of the Canton Lahuachaca district ( bolivian: Municipio) Sica Sica in the province of flavor and lies at an altitude of 3792 m. North of Lahuachaca extends the wide plains of the Bolivian highlands, and directly east of the village rises the Serranía de Sicasica, a north- south oriented mountain barrier between La Paz and Cochabamba, which rises to 4,500 m.

Geography

From La Paz from the paved highway Ruta Ruta 2 1 leads west to El Alto, from there 120 km south across Sica Sica after Lahuachaca. From there, the highway continues in a southeasterly direction to the department capitals Oruro, Potosí and Tarija and Bermejo according to the Argentine border.
