Life and work

His education was Dudas in time from 1958 to 1963 at the Béla Bartók Conservatory and the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in his hometown. After a period as a freelance musician from 1963 to 1973 Dudas chose the early 1970s resident in the west of the Rhine Neuss, where he worked alongside his work as a concert artist until 2004 also as a teacher in the subjects clarinet and saxophone at the music school. Dudas presented itself not only as a jazz or pop musicians, but equally as a soloist with works such as Carl Maria von Weber's Clarinet Quintet, Stravinsky's solo pieces for clarinet and Alexander Glazunov's Concerto for Alto Saxophone ( with the Neuss Chamber Orchestra ).

After a free- tonal period in the 80s, from albums like Detour, Monte Carlo emerged ( with Theo Jörgensmann ) and Mistral ( with Attila Zoller ), CL4 / Old and New Ways, Dudas has in the past decade again reinforced the so-called melodic jazz prescribed, but without losing its distinctive style. For over twenty years he has worked closely with the Düsseldorf guitarist Philipp van Endertplatz, with whom he completed numerous performances as a duo. In larger ensembles Dudas is relatively rare to experience live, most recently with his quartet, consisting of Philip van Endertplatz (guitar ), Martin Gjakonovski / Leonard Jones ( bass) and Kurt Billker (drums) - on the occasion of a themed concert ( bridge ) with the German Chamber Academy Neuss in the armory, or the Salzburg Jazz autumn with two drummers ( Kurt Billker and Jochen Büttner ).

Dudas has more than 50 singles, LPs and CDs recorded in the course of his career, participated in numerous radio and television productions, with well-known jazz musicians such as Tom van der Geld, Karl Berger, Albert Mangelsdorff, Gerd Dudek, Vitold Rek, Tommy Vig and Howard Johnson worked.

1982 awarded him the Jury of the 11th International Competition for Jazz compositions in Monaco 1st prize for his composition Urban Blues. So he finished in the 80s in the ' Top People Poll ', the renowned international jazz forum every year top positions. In 1992 was the inclusion of his Concertino for Clarinet and Orchestra with the Cologne Radio Orchestra on the program. The Neuss concert series Jazz in the Old Council Chamber called Dudas 1996. Many musicians such as Joachim Kühn, Aki Takase, Wolfgang Lackerschmid, Markus Stockhausen, Ali Haurand, Gerd Dudek, Nils Wogram, Jiri Stivin, Barbara Dennerlein, Christoph Spendel ... have occurred here in ten years (until 2006).
