Lajos Sătmăreanu

Lajos Sătmăreanu, Ludovic Sătmăreanu actually Lajos Szatmari, ( born February 21, 1944 in Nagyszalonta, Hungary ) is a former Romanian football player and current coach of Hungarian descent. He played a total of 306 games in the highest Romanian football league, the Divizia A, and participated in the World Cup 1970.

Career

Lajos Sătmăreanu began his career at CSM Oradea Crişana not far from his hometown Salonta on the border with Hungary. On March 17, 1963, he came against his future club Steaua Bucharest at its first use in Divizia A. Since this was to remain his only for Crişana, he moved in 1963 Divizia B Flamura Roşie Oradea, but withdrew after only one season to Premier League rivals AS Armata Tirgu Mures on.

On August 13, 1965 Sătmăreanu was Steaua Bucharest, one of the leading Romanian clubs in Divizia A, obliged. There he was employed by coach Ilie Savu for the first time at right-back and has been in this position at first team regular. With Steaua, he won a championship title and five cup wins before 1975 he moved to FC Bihor Oradea joined. Already during the winter break 1975/76 he returned to Bucharest - but this time to Progresul which played into the Divizia B, at the end of the season but managed to climb. After the immediate descent Sătmăreanu ended his active career.

He then became coach and coordinator in the youth field of Steaua Bucharest, until he was dismissed on 23 February 2011, together with seven other coaches of George Becali for cost reasons. In between Sătmăreanu had trained for a short time FC Bihor Oradea and had been from 1991 to 1997 assistant coach of various Romanian national youth teams. With these he had been able to qualify for the 1993 U-16 Football Championship in 1991 and the U-18 Football Championship.

After his release in Steaua Sătmăreanu first worked in the private football school " Mati sport " of his former pupil Vasile Matincă before he was game observer for the Romanian Football Federation.

In the summer of 2011, he took over the post of chief coach in the League III at Argesul Mihăileşti, where he replaced the former national player Viorel Turcu as a coach.

National

Sătmăreanu denied a total of 44 games for the Romanian national football team, scoring one goal. His debut celebrated on January 4, 1967 against Uruguay. He participated in the Soccer World Cup 1970 partly in Mexico and played in all three games.

Awards

On 25 March 2008 Sătmăreanu was " sporty Meritul " III by Romanian President Traian Basescu for the achievements in the national team with the Order of Merit. Class excellent. He is Honored Master of Sports.

Others

Lajos Sătmăreanu is not related to Alexander Szatmari, who also played in the Romanian national team and was among others at Dinamo Bucharest under contract. Vasile Sere, the sports reporter on the Romanization of the two players' names is due, also elected for Alexander Szatmari the name Sătmăreanu II to distinguish him from Lajos.
