Crater Lake

The Lake Chala (also Dschalasee ) is a crater through the center is the boundary between Tanzania and Kenya. It is located at 877 meters above sea level and is located about 8 km north of Taveta. The lake is fed by groundwater flows coming from the Kilimanjaro and drains below ground with a throughput of about 10 million m³ / year. Also the Chala lose volume. The lake is home to the endemic Oreochromis stained Barschs hunteri ( Lake Chala tilapia ).
