Lampaul-Ploudalmézeau

Lampaul- Ploudalmézeau ( Breton Lambaol - Gwitalmeze ) is a municipality with 777 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the Finistère department in Brittany in France. It is part of the canton Ploudalmézeau. The municipality belongs to the Communauté de communes du Pays d' Iroise.

The name of the village derives from Lann (monastery) and Paol ( Paulinus Aurelianus ). Former names are Monasterium immersive vulgato nomine Lanna Pauli in Plebe Telmedovia ( 884 ) Landapauli Ploedalmezeu ( 1467 ) and Lambaol Guitalmezeau (1787 ).

Geography

Lampaul- Ploudalmézeau is about 27 kilometers north- west of Brest directly on the English Channel. Neighboring communities are Saint- Pabu, Plouguin and Ploudalmézeau. The community is located between the small coastal rivers Kouer it. Frout in the west and in the east Ribl

History

Lampaul- Ploudalmézeau is due to a company that Paulinus Aurelianus hermitage ( in place of the church).

In Lampaul- Ploudalmézeau in 1977 on the initiative of Reun L' Hostis the first Breton School ( Diwan ) was founded.

Attractions

  • Church of St. Paulinus Aurelianus: The construction of the 16th century was the mid-19th century, partially destroyed by lightning and subsequently rebuilt. The religious building is a French cultural monument since 1926.
