Langerfeld

Long field was until 1922 an independent country parish in the municipality Schwelm and is now a suburb in the east of Wuppertal, belongs to the municipality Langer field Beyenburg. Coat of arms

History

The name field means long field of Landger or Long (surname ), also Landger 's or Langer's field. With a larger field once treeless meadow area was designated.

Historically Langer field belongs to Westphalia. After the first written mention in 1304 in a charter of the abbot in Siegburg Langer field belonged from the 16th century to the Westphalian parish Schwelm where prevailed the Lutheran Reformation.
