Laos national football team

The Lao national football team is the national team of the South East Asian country Laos. It is one of the weakest teams in Asia and previously could not qualify for a World Cup yet for Asian Cup. At the regional level (Tiger Cup) the team is hardly beyond the first round. In qualifying for the World Cup 2006, the Laotians lost first against Sri Lanka, but moved to the withdrawal of Nepal and Guam as a Lucky Loser into the group stage. One of the stars of the national team is Lamnao Singto. The striker played in the Thai Premier League.

The 134th place in the FIFA world rankings was the best ever placement in September 1998.
