Laramie River

Course of the Laramie River ( bright underlined )

The river has its origin in the Roosevelt National Forest in northern Colorado. It flows in a north - north-west to Wyoming, along the eastern side of the Medicine Bow Mountains. Then, toward the northeast, across the plain north of Laramie, through the Wheatland Reservoir and through the Laramie Mountains. Behind the mountains he meets the North Laramie River and eventually flows at Fort Laramie in Wyoming in the North Platte River.

The river's name comes from Jacques La Ramee, a French-Canadian fur trader who lived in the 20s of the 19th century in this area. His body was found near the confluence of the North Platte, pierced by arrows. Later, the Laramie Mountains and the city of Laramie were named after him.
