Larry McKeon

Larry McKeon (* June 30, 1944 in Nampa, Idaho; † 13 May 2008 Springfield, Illinois ) was an American politician. He was a member of the House of Representatives from Illinois for the Democratic Party. McKeon was the first openly gay member of the Illinois General Assembly. He was also HIV - positive. McKeon died at the age of 63 of a stroke.

Biography

He graduated from California State University in Los Angeles with honors.

Before he moved to Chicago, he possessed in the United States Army at the Los Angeles County Sheriff 's Department to the rank of lieutenant.

He was in the House of Representatives of Illinois, the General Assembly, elected and sworn in the following January 1996.

In July 2006, he announced his resignation from the office in January 2007. His successor was also gay Greg Harris. On 13 May 2008 he died in Springfield (Illinois ).
