Latin American Social Sciences Institute

The Facultad de Ciencias Sociales Latinoamericana ( FLACSO ) ( Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences ) is a transnational organization for research, teaching and promotion of the social sciences in Latin America. It was founded on 17 April 1957 at the initiative of UNESCO in Rio de Janeiro.

She is engaged in research and research funding as well as the post-graduate training in the offices in the member countries. So usually a number of specializations, Diplomados, Maestrías and doctoral programs with political science, sociology, economics, cultural anthropology or interdisciplinary orientation will be offered. Similarly, the offices offer a rich cultural program.

Member countries are Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Costa Rica, Cuba, Chile, Ecuador, Honduras, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, the Dominican Republic and Suriname.
