Laura Marx

Jenny Laura Marx ( born September 26, 1845 in Brussels, † November 26, 1911 in Draveil in Paris) was a daughter of Jenny and Karl Marx and wife of Paul Lafargue socialists. Her siblings were Jenny Longuet, Edgar Marx, Henry Edward Guy (Guido; Föxchen ), Jenny Eveline Francis ( Frances ) and Eleanor Marx.

Life

Laura Marx visited the South Hampstead College, because in their time women attending a university was denied. On April 2, 1868 married in London Paul Lafargue. Best man was Friedrich Engels. After the fall of the Paris Commune, the family had to go into exile in Spain and England before Laura and Paul were allowed to return to France in 1882. All three children of the couple died in these years. Laura was a linguist and translated her father's works into French and works of her husband Paul Lafargue into English. Laura and Paul celebrated in the night from 25 to 26 November 1911 according to the opera together suicide. They were buried at the Père Lachaise Cemetery in Paris.

Her sister Jenny led an English-language poetry album whose questionnaire between 1865 and their parents Jenny and Karl, and 1868 the housekeeper Helena Demuth and Friedrich Engels answered. She herself wore in 1865 as follows:
