Laura Urdapilleta

Laura Urdapilleta ( born February 2, 1932 in Guadalajara, † 11 February 2008) was a prima ballerina of the national Mexican dance company " Compañía Nacional de Danza ", known as " La Bailarina de México " ( Spanish for " The Ballerina of Mexico ").

Biography

Urdapilleta learned ballet dancing 1941-1945 Olga Escalona and then at Nelsy Dambre, but also at Gloria Campobello, Michel Panieff and Sergio Francheli. Her debut as a professional dancer, she gave in 1947 at the age of 15 years as a dancer at the City Ballet of Mexico City. In 1978 she was artistic director of the ensemble. In Ciudad Juárez, she founded a school for classical ballet and has been honored as a ballet dancer, among others, the Gold Medal of Fine Arts, the Gold Medal from the government of Jalisco, the medal at the Festival Internacional de la Plata and the keys of the city of Córdoba.
