Lauzès

Lauzès is a commune with 168 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Lot in the Midi-Pyrénées region. It belongs administratively to the Arrondissement of Cahors and the Canton Lauzès whose capital it is.

Geography

The municipality is situated approximately 18 kilometers north-east of Cahors, in the Regional Natural Park of Causses du Quercy. Neighboring communities of Lauzès are:

  • Saint -Cernin in the north,
  • Sénaillac - Lauzès in the Northeast,
  • Sabadel- Lauzès in the east,
  • Cabrerets in the south,
  • Cras in the southwest and
  • Saint -Martin- de-Vers in the west and northwest.

Lauzès is located in the southwestern slopes of the limestone plateau of the Causse de Gramat with its striking karst phenomena. Within the area itself, there is little surface water, only in the extreme southwest territory extends to the river verse, whose valley is registered as a Natura 2000 site under the number FR7300910.

Transport links

The community is located off over regional transport links. The northern section is served by the department of road D13, the southern section of the D653. The place itself is only accessible via the D10, which connects the other two roads department together.
