Lawson Robertson

Lawson Robertson ( Lawson N. " Robbie" Robertson, * September 24, 1883 in Aberdeen, Scotland, † January 22, 1951 in Philadelphia ) was an American track and field athlete and coach.

At the Olympic Games in 1904 in St. Louis, he won bronze in the state high jump and finished sixth in the 100 -meter run. About 60 m he left in the flow.

In 1906 he became a U.S. indoor champion over 300 yards. At the Summer Olympics in Athens he won silver in the state high jump and bronze in the standing long jump. About 100 m and in the pentathlon, he came fifth. About 400 meters he failed in the flow.

In 1908 he reached at the Olympic Games in London more than 100 m the semi-finals. About 200 m and in the state high jump he did not come on the first round also.

Lawson Robertson started for the Irish American Athletic Club, for whom he worked as a trainer from 1909. From 1916 to 1947 he was responsible for the athletics team of the University of Pennsylvania. In Paris in 1924, in Amsterdam in 1928, 1932 in Los Angeles and in Berlin in 1936, he was the head coach of the U.S. track and field selection.
