Lázaro Martínez

Lázaro Martínez Despaigne ( born November 11, 1962 in Havana ) is a Cuban former track and field athlete who specialized route was the 400 -meter run.

Sporting successes

Martínez participated in the 1992 Summer Olympics and won the 4 x 400 - meter relay team of his country the silver medal. Together with Héctor Herrera, Norberto Téllez and Roberto Hernández Martínez had only beaten the U.S. team led by Michael Johnson in 2:59,51 minutes.

At the World Athletics Championships 1987 in Rome Martínez had won together with Leandro Peñalver, Agustín Pavo and Roberto Hernández in national record time of 2:59,16 min behind the teams of U.S. and British bronze medal in the same discipline.
