Lazarus A.D.

Lazarus A.D. is an American thrash metal band from Kenosha, Wisconsin. The band was founded in 2005 as Lazarus and is available with Metal Blade Records. The discography of the band consists of two studio albums.

History

The band formed in early 2005 under the name Lazarus. The letters A.D. were later appended to avoid litigation. The founding members included the singer and bassist Jeff Paulick and guitarist Dan Gapen and Alex Lackner. A short time later the drummer Ryan Shutler came about. After the band played their first concert as a trio was completed by guitarist Alex Lackner the band. After a few more concerts published Lazarus AD In 2006, a demo with three songs. In summer 2006, the band played the opening act for Anthrax before further concerts in the Midwest of the United States followed.

In January 2007, the band began work on their debut album, The Onslaught, which was produced by Chris Djuricic. Since no record label showed interest in disclosure, the band released the album on their own. Mastering done by James Murphy. Within a short time about 1000 copies were sold. In spring 2008, Earache Records released the compilation Thrashing Like a Maniac, on the Lazarus AD was represented with the song Last Breath. Lazarus A.D. were the only unsigned band on this compilation.

In summer 2008, the band signed a deal with Metal Blade Records. The album The Onslaught was mixed again by James Murphy and published with a different album covers in the spring of 2009 the world again. The album received good reviews and was placed by the German magazine Rock Hard on a list of 250 thrash metal albums that you should know. Lazarus A.D. played their first U.S. tour, Goatwhore and Skeletonwitch opening for Amon Amarth. It was followed by another tour with Unearth the opening act of will. On 18 October 2009 the band played at the Loud Park Festival their first concert in Japan.

The second studio album Black River flows was recorded in July and August 2010 with producer Chris Wisco. The mixing and mastering took over again James Murphy. The release of the album took place on 28 January 2011. According to the publication, a U.S. tour with Death Angel and Bonded by Blood is planned.

Style

The musical style of Lazarus A.D. is sometimes referred to generally as Thrash Metal, Groove Metal as. One of the biggest musical influences include musicians Metallica, Testament and Pantera. Smaller influences come from bands like Slayer, Exodus or Megadeth. The pace is usually high and is interrupted by slower parts. In his texts singer Jeff Paulick treats personal experiences.
