Skeletonwitch is an American metal band from Black-/Thrash Athens ( Ohio).
Band History
Skeletonwitch 2003 by the two brothers Chance ( vocals) and Nate Garnett (guitar) was founded. The first line-up was also from Scott Hedrick ( Guitar), Jimi Shestina (bass) and Derrick Nau (drums). The group went through numerous appearances in the underground a name, and released the DVD -R Skeletonwitch - Live, Friday the 13th 2004 In the same year the debut album At One with the Shadows followed as in-house production. . A demo, which was distributed at the concerts of the group, followed by 2005. 2006 brought the EP Worship the Witch out the group, the first release with new bassist Eric Harris.
Was released in 2007 the album Beyond the permafrost on Prosthetic Records. It was followed by appearances in the opening act of Municipal Waste, Job for a Cowboy, Amon Amarth, Dimmu Borgir in 2008 and with Children of Bodom and The Black Dahlia Murder, 2009. 2008 Skeletonwitch played at the New England Metal and Hardcore Festival, a year later on the Scion rock Fest in Atlanta and the South by Southwest festival in Texas. Glenn Danzig was looking for the group as a support act for his Blackest of the Black tour from.
On 13 October 2009 Breathing the Fire appeared with Evan Linger on bass. The album was produced by Jack Endino and mastered by Scott Hull ( Pig Destroyer ). In July 2010, the label invited the song Crushed Beyond Dust high on the download page for the game Rock Band. In summer 2010 Ozzfest, a headlining tour followed by Europe with the opening acts Warbringer and Apatrida and a support tour for High on Fire in Canada.
Style
Prosthetic Records describe the style of Skeletonwitch as " amalgam of classic Bay Area thrash, Scandinavian death / black metal and NWOBHM ". Singer Chance Garnett switches between high, typical of black metal screeching vocals and deep, guttural growl. The music is played very fast, but still contains classic NWOBHM guitar riffs.
