Since no one shudder Santa Claus ( original French title: Le Père Noël est une ordure ) is a French play from the year 1979, the theater company Le Splendid. In 1982, the play by Jean -Marie perry was adapted for the cinema.

Content

The play takes place at a Christmas evening in a telephone counseling service. A hard-working social worker pair must fend off some perverse caller and several uninvited guests. The plot goes increasingly out of control, culminating in the explosion of the apartments.

The film version differs particularly from the end of the original play. Instead of ending with the death of all the players, all the main characters survive and feed a randomly perished craftsmen to the predatory animals in the zoo.

Reception

The film has become in France a cult film. Quotes from the film are partially passed into everyday language. In real Père Noël parties spectators play the scenes with partially and are equipped with the necessary props from the film.

Outside France play and the film are largely unknown. With Lifesavers - The lifesaver there is an American remake, in which Steve Martin plays the main role.

In Germany the first time was in November 2006, a translation of the play by Yvonne Marie box titled Santa is an old bastard in the basement theater Frankfurt listed.
