Léguillac-de-Cercles

The French community Léguillac de Cercle, Occitan Lagulhac de Cercle, located in the northwest of the department of Dordogne in the Aquitaine region. It has 306 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) and is one of 14 municipalities of the canton of Mareuil. Your municipality also forms an integral part of the Périgord -Limousin Regional Natural Park.

Etymology

The place name Léguillac, Occitan Lagulhac, possibly dates back to the Gallo-Roman personal names Aquilius. Cercle or Cercle is a southwestern neighboring community. Another hypothesis sees Léguillac or Lagulhac as a contraction of the Occitan agulha (French aiguille ) with the meaning needle.

Geography

The community Léguillac -de- Cercle is located ten kilometers west-north- west of Brantome and eight kilometers south-west of Mareuil (air line). It is surrounded by the following neighboring communities:

Léguillac -de- Cercle is the southernmost town in the Périgord -Limousin Regional Natural Park. It is next to the center of the following hamlets, farms and a mill:

The municipal area is drained approximately in the center of the Sandonie, a left tributary of the disease, walk south to Dronne out. The Sandonie rises in the north-west at Chez l' Abbé at 170 meters altitude above the sea. The Jallieu, a right tributary of the Boulou, rises north of Laubanélie and then flows to the east. The topographically lowest spot 115 meters above sea level is located in the south near Loubazac at the Sandonie, leaving the municipality here. Geology

The community Léguillac -de- Cercle is completely flat-lying sediments of the northern Aquitaine basin. The population in the municipality Léguillac -de- Cercle declined until 1999, but seem to be back to recover a bit since then. The reduction at the community level here was slightly more pronounced than in the rest of the canton of Mareuil.

The center of Léguillac -de- Cercle is located on the runs in the south direction D 93 of Vieux-Mareuil after Paussac. The D 93 is just north of the center of the D 84 of Nontron after Verteillac crossed. The D 100 E connects the village to the northwest with Gout - Rossignol. Two local roads leave the village to Saint -Félix -de- Bourdeilles and La - Gonterie - Boulouneix.
