Leif Rohlin

Leif Johan Rohlin ( born February 26, 1968 in Västerås ) is a retired Swedish professional ice hockey player who has played in its active period from 1986 to 2003, including for the Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League.

Career

Leif Rohlin began his career as a hockey player in his hometown at the VIK Västerås HK, for the first team he made his debut was in the 1986/87 season in the second-class Division 1. In the following year the game back with his team reached the summit in the Elitserien, before he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1988 in the second round than a total of 33 players from the Vancouver Canucks. First, he remained at his Swedish club for which he played for seven years in the Elitserien. In the summer of 1995, the Canucks him beorderten to North America and Rohlin was during the 1995/96 season his debut in the National Hockey League. In his rookie year he reached 22 scorer points, including six goals in 61 games.

After Rohlin was only 40 times used in the 1996/97 season in the NHL team of Canadians, he returned to Europe, where he accepted a contract offer from the HC Ambri -Piotta from the Swiss National League A. With the Confederates, he won in the subsequent period in the years 1998 and 1999 IIHF Continental Cup, where he was awarded during the tournament in 1999 as best defender. After four years in other European countries the Olympic champion in 1994 joined the 2001/02 season for Djurgårdens IF from his Swedish homeland, which he left after the season. His career ended in their league rivals from the Elitserien, Södertälje SK, following the 2002/ 03 season.

Internationally

For Sweden Rohlin took part in the U20 World Youth Championship in 1988, as well as the World Championships in 1995 and 2001 in part. In addition, he was in the squad of Sweden at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer and the World Cup of Hockey 1996.
