Lena Sommestad

Lena Sommestad ( born April 3, 1957) is a Swedish politician (Social Democrat Erna ) and economic historian. She was on 21 October 2002 until the redemption of the social-democratic government through the Civil Alliance government on 6 October 2006 in the cabinet Persson of Sweden 's Environment Minister.

Lena Sommestad studied economics at the University of Uppsala. Her research had a feminist orientation. She received her PhD in 1992 and received his doctorate of philosophy. In the period from 1998 to 2002, she was the director of the Swedish Institute for Future Studies. Before she was appointed Minister of the Environment, she held no political offices.

In 1995 she was awarded the Cliopreis. She lives in Uppsala.
