Lengefeld is a municipality in the northeastern part of the Anrode Unstrut Hainich in Thuringia. From January 1st 1997 Lengefeld lost the status of an independent municipality.

History

The town was first mentioned in 897. Lengefeld is separated from the calibration field by the Muehlhaeuser Landgraben. Historically Lengefeld belonged to the areas of the free and imperial city of Mulhouse. 1565 there were 60 men in Lengefeld population.

Traditions

In Lengefeld is annually the first weekend in November fair. From 27th to 29th of July 2007 in Lengefeld the thüringen widely known country fair fellows meeting - short LKBT - instead. For the 10th anniversary of this major event well over 160 Fairground and Trachtenvereine from all over Thuringia had come to celebrate this festival. The plans lasted since the last meeting in 2006.
