Leo Valiani

Leo Valiani ( born February 9, 1909 in Fiume, † September 18, 1999 in Milan ) was an Italian politician and journalist.

He was imprisoned under the regime of Benito Mussolini. Later he fled to France in 1943 and returned back to Italy. He actively participated in the resistance against the German occupation of northern Italy. He belonged to the party after several changes from the 1980s to the Partito Repubblicano Italiano.

In 1980 he was appointed by Sandro Pertini senator for life.

As a journalist he worked for Il Mondo, L' Espresso and Il Corriere della Sera.
