Leon Ehrenpreis

Leon Ehrenpreis ( May 22nd 1930 in Brooklyn, † August 16, 2010 ) was an American mathematician who worked on Analysis.

Speedwell attended Stuyvesant High School in New York City and studied mathematics at the City College of New York (Bachelor 1950 ) and at Columbia University, where he in 1951 his master's degree made ​​and received his doctorate in 1953 with Claude Chevalley ( Theory of distributions in compact spaces ). Besides his work as a mathematician, he was a Talmudic scholar and rabbi, a disciple of Rabbi Moshe Feinstein (1895-1986), whom he advised until his death in 1986 in scientific matters.
