Lewis Thompson Preston

Lewis Thompson Preston (* August 5, 1926 in New York; † 4 May 1995 in Washington, DC) was an American banker. He was CEO of JP Morgan 1980-1989 and from 1991 until his death president of the World Bank.

Preston participated with the U.S. Marine Corps on the Pacific War. The participants in the 1948 Olympic Games closed in 1951, historical studies at Harvard successfully. After graduation, he worked at JP Morgan, 1966, he became head of the London office of the bank, in 1968 Vice President, 1980 CEO of the bank.

1991 Preston was elected President of the World Bank; but for health reasons he had to repeatedly make the business run by alternate delegates, so in 1993 after a heart attack and the last months before his death.
