Liard Highway

The Liard Highway is the only fortified connection between British Columbia and the Northwest Territories. This highway is called in British Columbia Highway 77 and the Northwest Territories Highway 7.

The Liard Highway was completed in 1984 and was given the name 1986 Highway 77, the road begins on the Alaska Highway about 28 miles from Fort Nelson and then runs 138 km north-east to the border with British Columbia. From there, the road is named Highway 7 and runs 254 km through the Northwest Territories and ends south of Fort Simpson at a connection point to the Mackenzie Highway.
