Liberal Arts is an American dramedy from the year 2012, and after the second film of Happythankyoumoreplease Josh Radnor, who also wrote the screenplay, directed by and starring took over. The film tells the story of 35 -year-old Jesse, who begins a relationship with 19-year- old student Zibby after a visit to his former college.
Action
The 35 -year-old Jesse Fischer lives in New York and works in the college admissions office. He loves literature and languages , has a short time single and dissatisfied with his life and his career. He believes that he has experienced the happiest years of his life during his studies of liberal arts in Ohio because he was there continuously deal with poetry and was among like -minded people. Random invites Peter Holberg, his former English professor, Jesse to come near a college to attend his farewell party.
There, Jesse meets the 19 -year-old Zibby, drama student and daughter of Peter's friends. After the ceremony, Jesse stumbles upon a party dorm, where he again meets Zibby also. The two spend the next afternoon together, run through the campus and exchange ideas about the life, books and music. Meanwhile, Jesse is also true of his former professor Judith Fairfield, a woman he adored long time, and on Dean, a highly intelligent but depressed student who always wears just like Jesse a book with him.
Before departing Jesse, Zibby asks him to stay in touch. The two are pen pals and come so closer. Soon Zibby Jesse invites you to a meeting on campus. Although because of the large age difference Jesse is concerned, it can be a sure and visit them. However, the two are "caught " by Peter, who warns Jesse not to live in the past and advises him to finally grow up. Zibby, nothing will notice that asks Jesse if he wants to sleep with her, Jesse agrees only to, but refuses when he learns that it would Zibbys first time and leaves the room. Jesse eventually returns back to New York, where he met Ana, a bookseller at his age with a similar sized love for literature. The two fall in love, and Jesse seems to be able to forget the past. Once it can prevent a suicide attempt Dean, he decides to apologize to Zibby. She tells him that she hoped to grow faster through the relationship with Jesse and admits that she understands his behavior and accepted. At the end of the film a happy acting Jesse is shown, which looks forward to a life with Ana.

In the United States, the film was only very limited shown in theaters and played around 327,000 U.S. dollars. In Germany, he appeared in December 2013 direct to DVD.
