Allison Janney

Allison Brooks Janney ( born November 19, 1959 in Dayton, Ohio ) is an American actress.

Life and achievements

Janney played already as a student at a college performance at Kenyon College with in the Paul Newman directed. Later she studied at New York's Neighborhood Playhouse and at London's Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts.

Her first film role was played by Janney alongside Sandra Bullock in the comedy Youngsters -. The Brooklyn Gang of 1989 Your Role in the movie drama Big Night (1996 ) by Campbell Scott and Stanley Tucci brought her in 1997 was nominated for a Chlotrudis Award. In the adventure film Six Days, Seven Nights ( 1998) she played the role of Marjorie, the boss of Robin Monroe ( Anne Heche ).

In the years 1999 to 2006 Janney played the role of the press White House spokeswoman CJ in the television series The West Wing Cregg. For this role she was nominated in 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004 for a Golden Globe Award. In the years 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2004 she won an Emmy Award, for which she was also nominated in 2003 and 2006. In 2001 she received a Golden Satellite Award and a nomination in 2003 for the same price. In the years 2001 and 2002, she received a Screen Actors Guild Award; in the years 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006 she was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award. In 2000 she was nominated for a Television Critics Association Award and the Viewers for Quality Television Award. In 2001 she was nominated for the TV Guide Awards, in 2002 for an AFI TV Award.

In the film drama The Hours - From eternity to eternity (2002) Janney starred with Nicole Kidman, Julianne Moore and Meryl Streep. For her role she was nominated with the ensemble cast for a Screen Actors Guild Award and the Phoenix Film Critics Society Award in 2003. The role in the independent film Our Very Own in 2005 brought Janney was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award.
